Meet the People Behind Bristol Pie Society

Bristol Pie Society is a family-run business built on a shared passion for proper handmade pies, great hospitality and bringing people together through good food.

Founded by husband-and-wife team Phil and Amy, Bristol Pie Society combines decades of experience in pie making and hospitality to create small-batch, handcrafted pies that celebrate quality ingredients, traditional techniques and bold, comforting flavours.

Every pie is handmade in our kitchen at The Gloucester Old Spot in Bristol, where care, craftsmanship and attention to detail are at the heart of everything we do.

MEET PHIL

Phil has dedicated much of his career to perfecting the art of pie making. With years of experience and as the former owner of Lovett Pies, he has built a reputation for creating proper British pies that are generously filled, beautifully baked and full of flavour.

Every Bristol Pie Society pie is still handmade by Phil using traditional methods, quality ingredients and plenty of patience. From preparing the fillings to crimping each pie by hand, every step is carried out with the same pride and care that has defined his work for years.

For Phil, great pies aren't rushed—they're crafted.

MEET AMY

Amy is the owner of The Gloucester Old Spot, an award-winning British pub in Bristol, and has worked in hospitality for more than twenty five years.

Throughout her career, Amy has been passionate about creating welcoming spaces, serving great food and bringing people together. Bristol Pie Society brings together that passion with Phil's expertise in pie making to create something that feels both familiar and exciting.

For Amy, a business is centred around quality and a love of proper food.

our story

The idea for Bristol Pie Society began back in 2021 during lockdown.

With people unable to eat out, Phil and Amy launched Lockdown Pies, giving customers the opportunity to enjoy handmade pies at home. The response was incredible, with more than 12,000 pies sold in just three months.

Ever since, customers have continued to ask when the pies would be coming back.

Bristol Pie Society is the next chapter of that story.

Taking everything that people loved about Lockdown Pies, we've created a business that allows us to focus on making exceptional handmade pies available every month through our online pie drops, local markets and special events.

Looking Ahead

Bristol Pie Society is only just getting started.

Alongside our monthly pie drops, you'll find us at local Bristol markets, delivering hot pies for corporate events and creating bespoke pies for special occasions.

We're excited to keep growing, introducing new flavours and sharing our love of proper handmade pies with even more people.

Whether you're ordering your first box, meeting us at a market or inviting us to cater for your event, we'd like to thank you for supporting a small, family-run business.

Welcome to the Society.
